San Francisco International Open 2012

The first edition of the SF International Open was great, one more high level tournament by IBJJF.
For my first tournament of the year I think it was a great experience. Unfortunately with so many black belts in this area, on my weight class there were only me and my teammate Osvaldo Queixinho, so we closed out the division and signed up for the open class. On my first fight I went against the runner up champion of the super heavyweight and it was a very close match where I won by referee’s decision after the fight ends with 2 points each. The finals was also a great match where I lost by points to the middleweight champion.
In general I really liked my performance, not only for taking silver in the Absolute Division, but because I did feel really good in my matches and I look forward to my next competition, the Abu Dhabi Pro trials in New York.
